Day 2: TP17
Web-based and Network Distribution of Chromatographic Methods

Michael McBrien, Antony Williams, and Eduard Kolovanov
Advanced Chemistry Development Inc., 90 Adelaide Street West, Suite 702, Toronto, Ontario, M5H 3V9, Canada.

Efficient distribution of chromatographic methods or applications has requirements regarding capabilities, but also regarding actual data content. Applications databases have been available for some time, although typically they are incapable of utilizing structural information. In addition, the user may have access to one database for reference material, and another for intra-organizational material. Ideally, when imparting a chromatographic method, some information will be given regarding expected results in addition to complete chromatographic parameters. A system will be demonstrated which offers a representative chromatogram, chemical structures assigned to peaks, and complete method information as well as a format for user defined fields. Methods can be attached to web pages with OLE linking to viewing software, emailed to concerned parties, or databased in structure and substructure searchable form compatible with reference material as well as user data. The utilization of substructure search and interface to retention time prediction makes the database part of a powerful method development system.
