Posters
Ma'an Amad, Witold Winnik, Hans Schweingruber, Iain Mylchreest and Gary Paul In this poster the ability of the TSQ Quantum triple quadrupole mass spectrometer with unique high resolution capabilities to separate components with masses as little as 0.1 Da apart is demonstrated. Employing a resolution of over 5000, baseline separation of the analyte of interest, alprazolam (m/z 309.09), from a component present in the background, PPG (n=5, m/z 309.23), is successfully achieved despite the small mass difference in analyte and impurity. This separation allows high quality MS/MS mass spectra corresponding to the analyte and full structural characterization of this molecule. This example clearly illustrates that high resolution on a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer can be used to separate compounds of interest from isobaric interferences either for quantitative or qualitative purposes.
