High Resolution Biomarker Discovery Solutions for Clinical Proteomics

Mark T. Flocco
Bruker Daltonics, Inc.

Bruker Daltonics has developed an enabling technology to address biomarker discovery in Clinical Proteomics. The techniques described in this presentation utilize functionalized magnetic beads which capture proteins from complex biological solutions to allow for analysis on MALDI-TOF. This process is completely automated and allows the researcher to run several hundred biological samples per day. The data generated from this process will be further clustered and classified to generate computer models based on sensitivity and specificity. These tools will be useful for researchers in Oncology, Toxicology, Drug Safety Assessment and most therapeutic research areas looking for proteins as a measuring tool. Bruker Daltonics has a long history of manufacturing high resolution MS detection systems which are capable of isotopic resolution of analytes; with high sensitivity. Researchers will now be able to simplify highly complex biological solutions, target proteins which distinguish and characterize conditions, develop models and identify the protein biomarkers on a single, integrated platform.
